I have a powertrain warranty. My factory bumper to bumper is out. Once my powertrain warranty is up my aftermarket warranty that I purchased kicks in and covers me bumper to bumper until 11/2026. Either way no matter what warranty you have, the warranty company has to go through the process to cover everything. Since the dealer did cam phasers first the warranty company has to pay for that repair first before moving on to the rebuild. If the first repair isn’t paid for first warranty can deny it then the dealership has to pay for it. I went in yesterday to the dealer and cleared all this up because I didn’t understand why it’s been a month and a half and I still don’t have my truck. The warranty advisor at the dealer has to submit pictures and prices and all that stuff to the warranty company then the warranty company either declines or approves the repairs but it takes time. I also have engine for life warranty which my Ford dealer offers that and they are the only ones that do that as far as I’m aware. That covers everything oil touches in the engine for the life of the truck as long as I take it to the dealer for every oil change.

The factory powertrain warranty should be covering this then since it's still in effect, not the warranty you bought.

It sounds like things are a little backwards here. You’re still under the free Ford factory powertrain warranty. Why are you filing under your aftermarket warranty before using the genuine Ford one? Are you sure your dealer isn’t double dipping and filing on both?

it is under the factory powertrain. But that’s still a warranty company and they still have to approve every repair. Just because it’s still the factory warranty doesn’t mean they they don’t need pictures and prices if everything and they still have to go through all the steps

None of this is costing me any money. It’s all under warranty. It’s just a big inconvenience not having my truck

Something is fishy here. Usually under the factory powertrain an issue like this would get you a Ford rebuilt or brand-new engine, not an in-place rebuild. I would not trust a dealership to rebuild this and I doubt Ford would either. You should consider taking it to another, better dealership.

I’m definitely feel the same way. I don’t trust any dealership to rebuild the engine. The only problem is the truck is already tore apart so I’d have to tow it to another shop

maybe in house build is like their in house body shop and tinting .. aka out sourced to a local shop .. dealerships are for profit business and they don't have time to build motors in house and if they do.. they are usually big enough like Steve White Motors who builds some of the top mopar engines in the united states

my dealer definitely isn’t building high end engines. They can’t hardly fix and oil pan leak in 1 try lol. I’m praying they outsource the work. I just want my truck back and I was it right. If I have to go back again I’m going to be angry

Good luck, I'd be disappointed too, but at least you have a loaner, Many have given their trucks up for months with nothing.
