But I have this bad chugging which feels like a misfire.started at about 800 miles and has gotten worse. Now has 6200 miles. New plugs did not help.

I had this issue with my '16 5.0 XLT. Similar symptoms. See Coyote Part Throttle Steady State Stumble.

Eventually there was a DTC P0456 - "Evaporative Emission(s) System Leak Detected (very small leak)", according to my code reader. A tech I am acquainted with suggested the Purge Control Valve; a $47 part that sits, with easy access, on the intake manifold right behind the throttle body. Said he swaps out a bunch of these things but mostly on Mustangs. Same part. Bingo. Truck is running better already.

I was wondering if I was imagining that chugging, some lurching mixed in there.
Ford has teething problems cuz everything is so damn new......GMs have all the same old problems, I’ll take the compromise, but it’s odd how they release a truck that is so lumpy at times.

The 10 speed whines and whistles, can't say it is really an issue though.

Can it be disabled somehow? Thx.
I've had 2 F150's with the 5.0 - it's an awesome engine. No issues. There's no fake engine noise for the V8 that i know of...

My 2018 F150 5.0L has built up a heavy, black layer of soot at the rail pipe . The truck has 3000 miles on it. Is this normal? Is it do to the dual port and direct fuel injection? Is it symptomatic of a problem?

Default 5.0L rattle [solved?]

My f150 was producing the same rattling sound after releasing the accelerator. I took it to the dealer, the tech was able to confirm it almost immediately, but at first couldn't find the cause. He referenced their internal system and found a similar situation at another dealership, he spoke with them and confirmed it was related to the VST solenoid. He upgraded the PCM and it cleared up. I have noticed a drastic improvement. There are still a few situations where I can get a rattle, however the frequency, duration, and intensity is considerably less. This leads me to believe it is entirely tied to a software issue and is currently being developed and tested by Ford. I plan to keep an eye on the PCM versions and request an update to the latest release whenever possible. " One step forward, two steps back."
