Default 2016 tailgate question

I just installed a 60" LED tail light bar (my wife wanted it, this truck replaced her car that she got rear-ended in and totaled out). In order to install the 60" bar I had to remove the black steel "notch" that was bolted to the body on the passenger side. It looks like it would limit tail gate left to right alignment. Any issue with doing this? Tailgate seems fine to me.

It helps hold the tail gate in proper place when using the tail gate step. Wouldn't suggest removing it.

Interesting. It looks like it might be there in case the tail gate were to flex into the body? I wonder what the actual tailgate is rated to. I'm 215 and there is no flex at all when I stand on it or use the step. I removed it, doesn't seem to be causing any issues that a I can tell.

Hopefully you wired the lights on their own instead of using the trailer plug, which will make the truck see it as a trailer and disable the backup sensors, etc.

Of course I didn't. I even purchased the adapter to add the extra 4-pin behind the bumper. I'm going to see what the wife thinks. It would be easy enough to tap into more of the wires on the tail light (I did for reverse) but I did it at work where I can pull the truck in where it's warm. I don't always have that option. It might stay like this until spring.

The taillights will have similar issues. If the truck has BLIS, you've just disabled it also.

Nope, as far as I can tell i lost the beep and reverse guidance lines on the screen. Fine with me, doubt the wife will care either.
