The non-remote start FOB system operates on 315mhz. With factory remote start and FOB the system operates on 902MHZ. You can't simply enable remote start and expect it to work because it is a frequency mis-match.

So here's what I found out, and it's very random!! Some new 150's have the remote programmed in the system and some simply don't. Service guy said all he had to do was buy the fobs on his xlt and was good, they have had done that had to be installed. They are hooking my truck up to an ids system I believe is what they called it to see.

^^^
To be able to program and use long distance fobs you need the VSS and long range b-directional antenna.

If the truck doesn't have factory remote start already, yes you have to enable remote start with IDS but you need the other two items for it to all work.
