2016 remote start question

I just pulled the trigger on a 2016 xlt and it had everything I wanted except remote start. The dealer is going to install it before I purchase the truck but the one he is installing had a separate fob for the remote start. They said it's the one that will work 1000 feet. Is it possible to get a key that will work with that remote start system? As in remote start and truck key all in one. Thanks

I think the only trucks that come factory with remote starts are cars with keyless entry.

I have 2016 XLT with the OEM keyfob with remote start. It is possible for them to order it through the parts department. I think they make more money on the aftermarket remote starters and that's why they push those.

I don't think this is an aftermarket they are putting in its a ford product remote start, the bidirectional with the separate fob. I'm wondering if I can get a new Ford key with remote start function on it to work that remote start.

Sounds like this is what they are getting you, http://www.levittownfordsupercenter....al-p-3432.html

You can only use the OEM key with remote start FOB built in if it is factory ordered with remote start. Adding remote start after the fact via Ford parts will get you the kit with the separate FOB as described above.

The only option would be the Ford remote access. Then you can start it with your phone. Otherwise if it is after the truck is built you will have 2 remote fobs.

These guys apparently figured out how to retrofit the factory remote start, but they aren't sharing.

Price is very reasonable ($300 or $400 depending on remote), but the truck needs to be present at their facility in PA.

I've been looking for a way to get this retrofitted also.

If Ford remote no option on the 16, it is same as 15. Separate fob.

It's not an aftermarket system they'll put in. I had the same situation - truck had everything I wanted but remote start. Dealer added the Ford long range remote start. It's a separate small fob. They told me (and I'm not sure if this is true) that they install this one unless the truck has remote tailgate opening AND remote start. I don't mind at all because from what I have done this one has a MUCH longer range.
