2016 remote start question
#13
I'd be happy with the separate remote. I have a 15 with fob and the range is pretty dismal as was my 13. The truck is awesome, but the remote start range is low. At least it has 2-way and indicator lights so you know it didn't start. Congrats on the new truck.

It's not an aftermarket system they'll put in. I had the same situation - truck had everything I wanted but remote start. Dealer added the Ford long range remote start. It's a separate small fob. They told me (and I'm not sure if this is true) that they install this one unless the truck has remote tailgate opening AND remote start. I don't mind at all because from what I have done this one has a MUCH longer range.

Remote Starter
I just purchased a 2016 F-150 XLT and I'm going to buy an OEM remote starter with key from a Ford dealer on Ebay. This is a plug and play module with extra security feature and key $203. Once you install it (maybe 5 minutes tops) Go to your Ford dealer and have them re - flash the truck computer. Takes them maybe 10 minutes to do this and they will "cut" the key as well.
