Default 2016 Power Windows

Hey everyone. I’m new here. Happy to find a forum that revolves around F150’s. I’ve got a 2016 Lariat and love it...especially since I’m coming from a life of old beater minivans! I work in forestry in BC Canada and put about 50,000 km or gravel on each year. That’s about 30k miles. So...ya...I drive a lot.

My truck is starting to have a couple issues, the main one being my window motors(?).

I did a search and found a thread or two on the subject, but couldn’t find a definitive answer to my problem.

I’m guessing I just need a couple new window motors, but here’s the deal.

rear windows go down no problem, but I have to click the switch many times to get them up. Same symptoms whether I use the driver’s control or the rear door control.

When they do go up they go up with full power.

Am I off to the dealer (or rockAuto) for a couple motors?

I'd go after the drivers door switch, if both rear windows are doing the same thing, the chance that both motors are bad is pretty remote. The power for the rear windows goes through the driver door switch.

Hm! Interesting. Never would have known or thought about the power going through the front switch. I’ll start with that. Thanks Gordy

+1 for the driver's window switch that was my first thought read through your original post. Good Luck!

The switch just pops out of where its mounted, so no disassembly. I'm sure a video exists on Youtube. I won't say for a 100 percent, but I believe you pry up on the end towards the front of the truck. You might even pull it up and check that the wires are fully inserted on the plugs.

Sweet! I’m guessing like most vehicles it’ll be as easy as popping the old out and popping the new in....after a painstaking hair pulling door disassembly😣

To note I just upgraded some headlights. For those of you who’ve tackled that yourself you’ll understand my enthusiasm for getting into the guts of the door.

Oh nice. Thanks Gordy. You snuck that in there before my last. That sounds way easier than tearing the door apart.

One other thing is keep the tracks lubed. Get a can of PB Blaster Silicone spray, spray the tracks pretty good, run the windows up and down a couple of times to distribute the lube.
I spray mine when they seem sluggish coming up or you hear the motor straining, about once a year,
2015 XLT, 129K miles and no window problems so far.

Nice one! I’ll do that right away. I’m often lubing door latches, tailgate latches etc but hadn’t considered the window track. Probably especially important given the dust I encounter. Dust and shaking. Story of my life.

If the ? meant that you were questioning your choice of words the correct word for the window roller uppers is regulators.
