Question 2015 tailgate tie-down

Was looking at the tailgate on a 2021 F-150 today.

I was wondering if anyone had bought/found some of the tie-downs that are on the 2021 F-150 tailgate.

Was wondering if the tie downs would work on the 2015 tailgate?

Is there any "backing" in a 2015 tailgate to fasten bolts/screws to??

-OR- is there enough clearance when you shut the tailgate on a 2015 F-150??

There has to be reinforcement inside the new tailgate where those are attached. Trying that on the '15-'20 tailgate, the screws would probably tear right out of the tailgate or would rip the tailgate open.

Maybe the aftermarket will respond. I think they are a good idea too!

I like those. Not sure I’ll put them on my 19 without figuring out reinforcement, although wrapping around to the inside of the gate they take advantage of corner strength. However, I’ll probably fab something up on my 84 C1500, easier than wrapping a strap around the side of the gate to the bumper, plus less scratching of paint.

I don't see them as being very useful considering there are tie-downs in the lower rear corners of the bed, approximately 8 to 10 inches ahead of those. Even with the shorter bed length, a load securely tied down 66 inches from the front-most point is just as secure as one tied down 76 inches from it.

That's what I was talking about. Supposedly they double as a bottle opener too.
