Default 2015 SYNC 2 Bluetooth connectivity issue?

Have a 2015 XLT with SYNC 2. Had the truck for ~2.5 years with no issues thus far. Over the past month or two, my iPhone 7 and the radio/bluetooth will randomly disconnect and then reconnect on their own. I see my phone screen light up in the console and look at the radio and it says "Connect a phone", then a second later they'll reconnect. Seems to happen once every 10-20 minutes, but this morning discovered the hard way that it won't reconnect if I'm on a call - inadvertently hung up on the wife and she wasn't happy

When I first start the truck up and leave in the morning the phone connects right away, I can then pinpoint almost down to the second when it will disconnect about 30 seconds down the road.

I'm leaning towards it being a radio issue since I frequently use bluetooth speakers and headphones without any connectivity issues. Anyone come across the same issue or have any ideas?

Cheers!

What version of Sync 2 : v3.6, v3.7, v3.8 or v3.10?

I've briefly searched through the information page on the radio to look for something like that, to no avail - how do I find out which version I have?

It will be in the About Sync menu

I am assuming you have the 8" touchscreen?

Yes, 8" screen. Have looked through all the menu tabs several times and can't find an "About Sync" menu... still perusing through the interwebs trying to find a way to find out. Might have to ask the stealership.

After half an hour on the Ford Owner website I've finally been able to determine I have version 3.7, and the site says my Sync us up to date. Phew! *feels accomplished....somewhat*

I understand that, but I'm unable to update it. My understanding is the only way to check for/obtain updates is via the syncmyride or owner.ford.com website; when I log in it says "Your Sync is up to date" and there is no update option... is there some way to work around or push an update that anyone is aware of?

V3.8 and 3.10 are no longer available for download from Ford's website. V3.10 is available as a dealer install using IDS.

So as far as Ford is concerned, my version is essentially up to date then.

I've disconnected and deleted the BT pairing from both the phone and truck and reconnected so will see if it recurs, then head to the dealer.
