Default 2015 Payload

With the 2.7 payload numbers being released what can we expect a basic XLT SuperCrew with max tow be at (without max payload package)? I would be guessing somewhere around 2200 or is that unreasonable?

Your question makes no sense. It's like two questions warped into one cluster F.... I don't think the 2.7 can come in the max tow...

It's almost all speculation, so I bet nobody is really interested in speculating. But that said, I'll bite:

Yes, you are being unreasonable. It will be within 50 Lbs of the existing payload for a similar configuration, so 1700-1800 lbs. You want something around 2200, you'll need the HD Payload option.

I'm impatiently waiting for official numbers, in particular how the Max. Tow package will impact GVWR/payload, assuming it will indeed affect those figures. That in turn affects my choice of engine, since that package is only available on the 3.5EB. What does Max. Tow do for the current trucks GVWR wise?

I would like to see a SCREW 5.5 bed 3.5 EB in the 2000 range max tow without HD payload.

And it might be on a stripped down model...

I would expect payload capacities to remain very close to what they are on the current truck. It isn't like they cut 700lb off the current truck but left the frame, suspension and drivetrain alone, you can bet they downsized some of those components to save additional weight/money while retaining current capabilities.

Definitely the spring pack or the ride would suck. I agree the payload is a decision by Ford where they trade off comfort and capacity. I bet the axles are the same so at least many pieces of the drive line should be capable of more load. You just may need airbags.

Look in the order guide. The max payload for the 2.7L on a SuperCrew 4x2 is 1,960 with the 2.7L payload package. Without the payload package the max is 1,640. Not including trim level and options.

Link to 2015 order guide?
If all they did was lighten the pickup by 700lb, then you should be able to carry 700lb more. So if your payload was 1500lb, it should now be 2200lb.
Since we have discovered that our trailer weight is limited by GCWR and payload with payload coming in first many times, this shoujd be good news.
The 2.7 is said to have an 8,800lb towing capacity. An 8,800lb trailer with 12% on the tongue will use 1,056lb of payload plus ~100lb for the WDH. That's 1,156lb total payload.
If you have 2200 to start with, you are left with 2200-1156=1,044lb for people, dogs, firewood/ATV, etc.
