Purchased a leftover new 2015 Platinum last month. Had put about 1500 miles on it. Started it up today before I go to work to cool it off using the remote start. Came out and gas was pouring out from under the engine area. Maybe 2-3 gallons had leaked. Luckily no fire and dealership came with a flatbed and gave us a loner suv. Any ideas on what it could be?
A quick look by a service tech did not show anything broken. It was right before closing so I was lucky just to get it towed. Will update Monday. With my luck its never something that simple.
We're you on a flat or angled surface? Have them replicate if they can't get it to leak. Had a Wrangler that had a similar issue. It was just the fuel line.
As if it weren't bad enough, that I have the dreaded warped dash on both sides, I walk out and see my 1000 miles 2016 F150 leaking gas. It is not water as the smell is strongly of gas. I can smell it in the cab.
First Pic shows what I saw when I was looking at my truck which had not been driven today. Two puddles of gas. My driveway has a slant so it is running downhill.
2nd pic shows the gas that poured out when I put it on level ground in front of my house. Again, this is GAS. Looking under the vehicle I can only see that it ran out of where the side running board connects. I cannot see where it is coming from.
Anyone got any ideas? I can see from the left side under the hood, the fuel line, but I can't tell where is goes. I'm going to try crawling up under there in a few minutes.
I wonder if it is safe to drive to the dealership about 10 miles away? Maybe I will give them a call and see what they say. I am hoping I don't have the experience where I have to take it back several times, because they don't see anything wrong.
I can honestly say I have never had one of my vehicles leak gas and I had some old beaters when I was young. A couple of vehicles pushing 20 years old. It really busts my onions. On the positive side, maybe my disappointing mileage of 16 MPG might go up if the gas doesn't leak!
Update:
Looked all over under the truck and in the engine bay and don't see any hint of liquid. Only way I can see fuel getting where it did was to follow the passengers wheelwell cover and into the rocker panel, because that is where the fuel appears to be coming from. The wheelwell cover does not appear to have any evidence of fuel from what I can see.
