The solution to this problem.... Very simple. You call Ford Dealership and tell them you have the problem and need a Rental from Ford until it is fixed. Depending on the rental response you call Ford Customer Care and tell them you need a rental approved while you wait on parts for the Frozen Locks and Latches on your truck. Tell them whatever reason it is you depend on your truck and you won't accept it back until they fix it.

Drop Truck off at dealership leave in Rental Vehicle.

Begin consulting your State's Lemon Laws and determine if your truck qualifies. Rinse and repeat this process until it either is fixed or it becomes Ford's problem. While you are in the service department you will have lots of company and see it is a pretty common problem when it becomes "that time of year".

Been the same drill every Winter since 2015 style and I imagine the problem has to be growing!!

That is exactly going to be my approch when I contact fords consumer office wendsday morning , this is what I told the dealership today when I left it with them again, they can keep it and pay for me a “safe” vehicle to drive until it’s fixed, I’ve had the won’t unlock, the won’t latch at all, the half way latched and flinging open traveling 55 mph, and the won’t unlock when I arrive to my destination, it’s getting real old climbing over the console to get in and outta truck just to get to work, let alone if there was a major accident /fire and being trapped inside because of this..

Now for some of us we happen to have bought a slightly used year old truck and the lemon laws do not apply to us, so that remedy is out for us .

And finally as you said anywhere that’s having freezing temps this time of year , the dealerships are having tons of trucks in the service department with same issue, as my dealer stated there’s new ones on the lot with the problem, this is where the problem lies, fords only has had to deal with us complaining for a few months a year and only where the majority of the trucks are having this problem because freezing temps, come spring and everyone stops complaining... if the problem would have affected our trucks year round in a larger geographic area more complaints would be in and they woulda had to do somthing much sooner...

Well people had the 18N03 done all doors. Right rear failed within a week and latch & actuator where replaced. Now my Christmas present from Ford the driver side rear door failed to latch today @17F outside. Been working was working yesterday. This will make 3 trips in December for the same issue. This truck has been treated the same as all the vehicles since buying my first vehicle in 69. Had F series trucks from a 50 F1 to this 18 Lariat. 16 & 18 Lariats are the only vehicles to have consistent re-incurring latch issues. This visit will include a trip into the sales managers office to start the a customer quality complaint. Also this vehicle is looking better and better every single day.

Get in my warmed up truck to go to work this morning 27 degrees out, get to end of street turn right and notice right door is not latched. So I pull over get out and try and close the door a couple of times and still not latching I try thumping inward on door handle then it finally latches. This is the first time in 2 yrs that this has happened.

mine are still working after ghetto fix with spray down WD-40 and PB. Tempted fate twice now in below freezing going to the car wash just to see what would happen. All is well. I would not give up on the spray down fix just yet. Have to hit the G spot so to speak shoving the little straw way up in there by removing the three torx head bolts on the latch and moving it over just a bit. Give it a good soaking, wait a bit, then hit it again. One guy on here said it failed him, I think he was unable to get it up where it needed to be or had a lot of water to overcome at once. I am still inclined to drill an access hole just above the latch bid enough for the straw to allow spray to cascade down over the latch mechanism.

The only way that thing could look better if it had a picture of another vechicle in front of it

I had a Jeep Commanche pickup and it was pretty nice for a small pickup. That new Wrangler based truck is straight up fugly!!

Folks think about it this problem basically renders a vehicle undrivable for safety reasons everyone with this problem should be leaving their vehicle until it is fixed at a dealership and getting a free loaner !

Mine has never left it undrivable.....or unsafe.
It has been an annoyance for sure !!

If your latch sticks open lock the door and it will latch.....
But now it will only be openable from the inside..... but your already inside !!
When you get where you are going you can open the door from the inside handle.

If it hasn't already thawed out.

This has been the case all 3 times my truck has had the problem.

Now I'm thinking of pulling the door panel and having s look around in there.

If I do I will step by step the procedure.

That may work for you but locking the door for me does not allow it to latch , a couple times Locking it allowed to latch half way , but not all the way closed and latched... and then driving it will come unlatched and fling open, other times it’s stayed latched and locks frozen latched and it won’t open or unlock , that’s a safety issue period...

There's nothing unfettered about calling someone out based on them living in a very large state (AZ) then having no such information in your own profile or posts? Perhaps there are other owners here with a similar interest to yours?
Might want to google "SWAG" PDF for further information on how to proceed...
Is this "holiday snarkyness"?
