2015+ Frozen door latch TSB/ Recall
#1623
My 2018 XLT Super crew door latches are freezing now that it is cold. Almost fell out my bloody door yesterday because the door didn't and wouldn't close. Freaking ridiculous......you think they would get this crap fixed by now.
Taking it in to be fixed in the NEw Year if that's possible. I aready sprayed the crap out of my latches but that is not working.

Pretty sure this is the only way for it to actually be fixed. Building bird houses around the existing latches is lame. In the meantime is there a pdf or any doc somewhere on how to remove the interior trim for the door with a list of any special tools required? I don't think it's possible to reach the circled area in photo above without doing that unless maybe if you melted/bent a curve into a long straw for the spray nozzle but even then it would be kind of a wild *** guess whether or not you hit it unless you had a borescope.

Hi guys, just had the latest recall done 2 weeks ago on my 18 because the passenger front door froze and would not close. Yesterday, went to check the doors and now rear passenger door wont open at all. I guess I will wait for a new latch redesign when Ford decide the settle this once and for all. If someone is listening at Ford, you just lost a Ford Escape Titanium sale ... I need at least one of my 2 vehicles to work properly.

I don't understand how a product that I posted in #1538 works up here and has worked for the dealer since the problem came out in the 15's, won't work south of the border.
like duber3 said, last post and enjoy your truck

What dealer is that? Spraying carb cleaner into a door seems like lunacy.

Well... it appears that all the moderators are "too busy" to do this requested "reboot" of this thread or ??.... I reached out to four of them that had recently shown as logging on via a PM.... crickets!
I have the proposed first post of the replacement thread written with a clear, simple Problem Statement and references to our best DIY options.... ready when they are.
Maybe Santa will bring us a refreshed thread....meanwhile, everyone have a Merry and safe Christmas.... I am down in warmer Phoenix with family but will git 'er done when support shows up....LOL....AZPLAT
