Default 2015 Battery Replacement or Bad Code

So the dash on my Lariat said "Battery getting low change soon". I installed an AGM battery of the correct size, topped of the charge to be sure the alternator didnt have to carry the load of charging the battery. Once everything was done I got in to run an errand and the same message came on the screen. So tell me is there a reset I dont know about or did I just waste $200?

Your truck is equipped with a "Battery Management System."

The system disables non-essential systems when it detects low battery voltage. When you replace your battery it take 8 hours of "sleep time" (truck off, doors shut) for it to relearn the battery state.

You can force a reset with Forscan.

I thought you had to reset the computer with FORScan (or a dealer), so it knows you installed a new battery. And also input the right code (AGM, wet cell, gel), since charging is different. Or the truck learns that by itself after 8 hours??? Can an expert set the record straight? My truck is less than a year old, but will eventually have to deal with this too, although I plan to buy basically an identical battery, since mine is an AGM. So in my case, the computer just have to know it's a new battery. Thx.

Under normal conditions there is NO NEED to reset the BMS. It is designed to recalibrate over 8 hours. The reset function exists as a fail safe.

Did the 8 hours make a difference? Still have the message?

I would agee - OP, if the message below is what you saw, it is referring to your key fob battery, not your AGM/starting battery.

Well I guess the egg is on my face. After just getting 8+ hours of run time the message still pops up. Now I see the helpful comments of it being the key fob, rats!!!
Well it wont be the last $200 I waste on the truck.

The bright side:

Being in a hotter climate like Florida it's not unusual for the engine battery to die around four years so you've most likely just saved yourself the hassle of having a battery issue.
