Are you sure about that? That'd make sense to detect battery type, but the computer can't know if it's a new or old battery. That's why a lot of new cars now require dealers to 'code' a new battery, mainly to reset the computer to new battery status. As the battery ages, the computer lessens the charge to the battery, as they sulfate with age, and that prevents them to get a full charge. Therefore, if system is not reset, a new battery wouldn't get charged optimally. At least this is the case with BMWs, Porsches, etc., which require to input a new serial number (most dealers just make it up, which is required with aftermarket batteries). Just want to make absolutely sure 'coding' is not required on this truck . Thanks.

Well it wont be the last $200 I waste on the truck.
lol, that's a good one

But it's not a waste at all. Proactive/preemptively changing a battery is a good thing IMO, why wait until the vehicle needs jumped and you are afraid to turn it off again until you're at the parts store? ~4 years is long enough it's reasonable to just go ahead and put a new battery in if you ask me, and as mentioned above, heat kills batteries, the hotter your climate the lower your battery's expected life (people often think it's cold, since cold reduces a battery's output and a weak battery will often fail on a real cold day because of this, but a life spent in the heat will get it to that point more quickly, cold climate batteries don't start to lsoe life from being too cold until you're talking like Canada winters)
