Default 2013 to 2015 differences noticed.

I had the chance to take out a 15 screw 4x4 5.5 5.0 3.73 thankfully with out any salesperson.
A couple difs I noticed right away. The steering wheel is softer not only in the way the leather feels but the foam underneath. Very nice as I never liked the "leather" in my 13 xlt.
The lumbar support pushes out further in the back. Very nice as I wished my 13 did this for years. Should be a bonus for those of us with bad backs.
The door chime is much softer and not annoying anymore.
The 5.0 is fairly musical when pushed but was to quiet below 3500rpm at wot. Does move when the rpms climb above 3000, below felt a bit disappointing coming from an eb. That said I will get the Eb again poor mileage or not lol.
I also found the ride harsher which is weird as the 15 had 17" rim and mine has 20s. Maybe the extra ft on mine would make the difference? Lighter 15, new not worked in a bit, not sure what to think of that but not a concern either.
I did notice the 15 felt a bit lighter on its feet, particularly around the corners. Let us not kid ourselves, it is still a heavy truck but the weight shed is welcome.
Lost one sunglass holder above, but gained a grab handle and map lights that fade to off when turned off manually.
There is now a moving line in the backup camera not all stationary as in the 13 mirror.
Soft open glove box is nice but the center console is just awesome deep. Could easily hold a couple 1911 with the day supply of ammo if I weren't in Canada.
The doors close with a solidness that the prev gen lacked. And no more door ripples to boot.
I thought the tailgate was a soft open. Nope found that out with a slam.
Overall nice upgrades but to be honest if I was not in a 2 year lease I would not trade the 13 in. There just doesnt seem to be enough to me to justify the leap. Had they done a major trans or engine upgrade, sure. Perhaps 17 will be the year. Right when my next lease is up.

Why would you only trade if there was a "different" engine or tranny? What's wrong with the current ones?

The current 6 speed is just ok IMO. I've had to have it reflashed once due to violent downshifts from 6 to 4 at full throttle, after taking way too long to realize that a downshift was ordered.

The current tranny feels like it's too outdated for the new truck. Isn't a new 9 or 10 speed projected for 2016 or 2017?

I actually really like the 6 speed in the 2015, and would not want a 10 speed. Just means way more unnessacary shifting around town. I didn't buy a truck for highway travel. Dodge is now having a lot of issues with their 8 speed transmission as well. My friend is doing 3 transmissions a week.

Ditto this X1000.

6 Speeds is plenty. Does nobody here remember old three and four speed gear boxes??? As is, first is almost ridiculously low and 5th and 6th are both overdrives. Going with more gears will result in way too much shifting and I don't like that.

I agree that harsh downshifts have been reported with the F-150 and I am sorry you have one. But mine shifts very smoothly and while it won't kick down quite quick enough, I can use the select shift to take care of that by keeping out of 5th or 6th gear if needed. Also, you can use tow haul mode for more performance which I am sure you know. Lastly, I believe you can get an electronic tuner to change shift points but I may be wrong on that.

I've wondered about this whole deal myself. The design of the ford 10 is supposed to be superior to that of the 8 speed gm and Dodge hence the reason gm offered up their upcoming fwd 9 speed in trade for fords 10 speed design. But at the same time i think the current 6 is really good. There is supposed to be 3 overdrive as opposed to 2 and an actual 1:1 in the 10 but that still leaves 6 gears under the 1:1. That sounds like allot of shifting to me.....

I couldn't agree more. I drove a new Ram with the 8 speed, and I wasn't impressed at all.

Predictive. Helps you better line up your truck and trailer.

They did. The 2.7 EB V6 is a brand new engine for the F150.
