2" receiver hitch causing back up warning beeping

It seems normal to me for a hitch. If I leave the pin out and push it all the way in it doesnt set off the sensors. I think I am going to drill a hole through it at the all the way in position and then let it ride there until I need to use it, and then slide it back to that original position.

I like leaving it in. Over the past 6 years been rear ended 4 times during morning rush hour. Haven't had any body damage . The ball usual stops after to goes through the thing cars radiator.

Agreed, you have the right to leave it there, but I have the right to the skin on my shins.
In all honesty, if I see a hitch on a vehicle, I look to see if there's a locking pin. If not, the owner will find his hitch in the bed of his truck.
BTW, I tow. But the hitch comes off when the trailer gets unhooked. To me, it's common courtesy.

I just changed my bumper to a Westin HDX. My sensors have a steady beep now. The bumper has these triangle things that hold D-rings, I'm thinking that's what is setting them off but I'm not sure yet.

Having had my shins bashed in more than once by innocently walking by a truck with a hitch in a parking lot, I'd ask you to reconsider.

The sensors on my '18 go crazy when I have the WDH head in the hitch. They go off when I have the tow bar for the boat in. I just turn the beepers off out of habit now. If they don't go off, I start looking real close for anything in the way like something is wrong.
I would not appreciate someone removing my tow bar from the hitch, I would suggest they not walk so close to the back of pick up trucks, especially those that have tow bars mounted in the hitch.
