Default 2.7EB is impressive

So I traded my 2010 F-150 Screw with the 5.4 in for a 2015 2.7 EB XLT/302. I was a little worried the 2.7 would not pull my boat well and i would not like it. Then I test drove it. Wow, the engine was spunky and made the whole truck feel like a light car. So i bought one. I put 1000 miles on it then pulled my boat for the first time. It weighs around 3800 pounds w/trailer. Again I have to say this truck pulls my boat like it's not even there. So if your on the fence about the 2.7 and your not going to pull large construction trailers this is the truck for you. The V8 sound means nothing to me so that's not an issue for me.

I also have a 2015 Scab with the standard 3.5 I drive for work. Compared to the 2.7 it's a dog but works as a good work truck if your not going to be pulling anything. The acceleration is no where near the 2.7 EB. I have driven the 3.5 EB and the 2.7 feels faster to me. Not that fast is an issue for me either as I use my truck as a truck not a racing machine. I love the truck and 2.7. I do not have any of the issues I have read about on the forums.

The 2.7 is impressive. The 3.5eb is awesome to be sure, but I was so impressed that a 2.7L engine could move a truck that big that quickly. Meanwhile, it has more towing capacity than I've ever needed in 15 years of owning pickups. That engine was a key selling point for me and made my decision about whether to upgrade to the 502A package pretty easy. Eventually I found a 2.7 with the 36-gallon tank, and that was exactly what I thought I wanted . . . until my family informed me that I also wanted the double-moonroof!

Glad you enjoy it.

Yes same here I have a FX4 screw 2.7l and love it. I have not towed with it yet but I'm glad to hear that 3800#'s was no issue. Glad you enjoy it. The only issue I had was the small O ring in the oil filter was to small (from the manufacturer) and allowed the oil to drain from the filter on a cold soak. It was the first time the dealer had seen it and they had it fixed in a day. So you might want to change the oil around 2K to make sure you have the correct O ring in your filter.

.

I calculated about 15 mpg. Mainly highway. I only pulled it one trip so I'm not sure how precise that is.

I love mine. It's a scab 4x4 with the 6.5 bed and I've towed my popup (about 1500lb) twice so far on 400 mile trips. I've averaged around 17mpg towing, most,y hignway. Empty, I get around 17-1impg city, 22 hwy. Close enough to the epa rating that I don't really keep track anymore.

Indeed, the truck feels more like driving a quick midsize suv than a work horse, especially in sport mode.

When I walked onto the lot to buy a new F150 a few weeks back, one thing was certain - that I did not want a 2.7 EB. After driving one, I didn't want to leave without one. It's a phenomenal engine and, to me, it feels faster than the 3.5 EB and the 5.0 as well.

My first tank I got 17.8 MPG. My second tank I got 18.6 MPG. On my third tank now and I'm at 24.1 somehow so far (I did leave on the Auto Stop/Start for this tank because I was sick of watching my mpg's go down when I stopped). I am admittedly babying it to see how high I can get it to go. But I am by no means driving slow. The only thing I'm doing is trying to not accelerate when I know I'll have to hit my brakes to slow down up ahead for a turn or something. I live in the country, so it's pretty easy out here.
