Default Any updates?

Anyone have any updates to this issue?

2016 2.7 XLT 302A, 8500 miles. Notice a chirping noise, thought i was crickets, going slow down my block with windows open and less while idling but some accelerator makes it more pronounced. Originally thought it was coming from under the bed but now seems more under the driver front. Going to a dealer with a "noise" never seems to work so looking for some experience with the issue. Thanks in advance.

2016 XL 2.7 9300 miles. I figured it was the turbos, but I believe its the shifting of the transmission. because if its cold and not warmed up you can really hear the rattle. Warmed up you can here the turbos whine up and blow off. I hear something that sounds more like shift linkage moving. Truck not affected...yet.

might be your radiator fan

common issue on the 2016 exploders - a bad batch of fans make a chirping noise that is most noticeable when the engine is just shut off - as the fan spins down. I could hear mine at idle with the window down but I had to listen for it.

I think they've put out something on this as the fan is used on other cars and might well be used on the 2.7L. not sure. Other than pulley noise and by the way - no do not spray WD-40 on your pulleys. They use a sealed for life ball bearing so no you aren't getting any oil in there and you might oil your belt and cause it to slip/squeel anyway.

Doesn't mean however the pulley isn't defective.

Are you guys sure you're not hearing the waste gate linkage rattling on the turbos? The video below shows where it's located, but doesn't describe the sound very well.....

Just an idea.......

My 2.7 started making the high pitched rotational chirp noise at 2,000 miles. I had the passenger side turbo and the fuel pump replaced and still had the noise.

Back in January (around 14,000 miles) I switched to Premium gas (Chevron only, 91). I noticed over the next two months that the noise was getting quieter and less common. 22,000 miles on the truck now, and I've only heard the chirp once in the last six months.

I have read a few posts about switching to 91 octane helps, thankfully these things get 20+mpg if that is the "fix" for now. The impact of the higher octane would then mean it is a turbo issue? I am not automotive savvy.

not really.

It might be in the high pressure fuel pump

it might be turbo waste gate closeing and opening to keep the boost in the right range of the engine map

might be purely accidental as once those people put in higher octane they are also driving them harder and not hearing the noise.

I sort of wonder if it's not intake noise as a whistle.

My truck has done the same thing since day 1. I've got almost 31k miles on it with no driveability issues, but that doesn't mean there isn't anything wrong. Just that no one seems to know for sure what it is.

Here's a previous thread on it.

Thanks for everyones continued input. I will be taking it to a dealer after the holiday. Things that have been coming to my attention is it happens on hotter days and when the engine is warm. Other thing I have noticed is regarding weather conditions. Here in Eastern Washington we are at 2500 ft elevation and currently with forest fires. Could that have some impact? Will keep everyone updated after I go to the dealer.
