Default 2.7 auto on/off?

I'm not sure I like the auto on/off. I feel like it will be a lot of additional wear and tear and I hate that in traffic I can hear the starter turning over and truck turning back on.

Do you guys think the auto on/off adds wear and tear?

Is there any way to permanently turn this feature off? Its minor, but hate hitting the button every time I hop in the truck.

Truck is designed for it. One of many, many threads on the subject:

The starter, and then entire engine in fact, is designed for the start/stop. It's not a regular starter. It will also only activate when the engine is warm, which makes it easier to restart. I've been using it since I got it in March 2015, and I have 63k on the clock, with no problems whatsoever. I've never disabled it.

Agreed, pretty easy to figure out how to prevent the auto-off with light brake pressure if you know you're about to be moving.
Press a bit harder to turn off at a light or extended stop.

Also, it doesn't turn the engine off when the engine is cold, if the wheel is turned past ~90*, heavy accessory usage (seat warmer/rear defrost/wipers).

Same here, hated it from day one and could not get used to it. I get that the starter is beefier, the engine is designed for it, etc. But bottom line, starting and stopping the engine adds wear and tear period. If I can avoid any wear and tear, I will avoid it and tbh I'm not looking to eke out every single extra mpg out of the truck.

So I permanently disabled it, as dicussed in the thread already mentioned. Happy camper now, all it took was one jumper wire and 10 min of my time.

I like choice. ;-)

Took me a few days to figure out the correlacorrelat.
The only time I turn it off is in the Tim's drive through.

Never mind. I found the thread for anyone who's looking to do this mod.

One of the things that I love about the internets is that EVERY SINGLE PRODUCT ADVANCEMENT has haters. Ford could come out with an F-150 that hauls 20,000 pound trailers and drives itself and people would say:

- "I want to haul 21,000 pounds"
- "If you don't know how to drive, get a bike"

The truck is designed for Auto Stop/Start. My 2010 Fusion Hybrid is going strong after 7+ years of starts and stops.
