I put a 2.5inch bds with 35s. No cutting or running present. I am really satisfied with the way it rides. I did the same research and felt that bds was the way to go. I like the factory ride of my platinum and with the bds kit you get a 2inch spacer with a 1/2 inch preloader which they state helps with the geometry. They also have a no BS full warranty. If something breaks they back you up. That was worth the extra cash.

Default 2.5 Level

2.5 Pro Comp pucks here.

Hate the ride but what I can afford at the moment to get height I want, installed some mudflapz with tires to help with the off road look, left front tire rubs on left full turns only but I like how it sits. Saving up for halo to get 2.75 and upgraded UCAs. Paid 60 if I’m not mistaken. Good luck on your level choice! Photos once you level, love the sport look on these trucks. (PTM)

Did you measure your truck? Ford service guys (unofically) told me 2" is not a problem but no more. I was 2 3/4" OEM and picked a 2" level to keep me at a 1/2 - 3/4 rake. It settled a little and I'm at ~ 5/8 rake. Two and a half may push you the other way but you need to measure your truck. If you go 'nose up' there's no going back without a big hassle

This post is from my own experience, it may give you some ideas to your questions..

It seems as though a 2.5" level is the sweet spot for a perfectly level truck. Is that true? I would prefer no rake at all, as I do not tow very often. Also, I don't know very much about kits or installation, but I'm looking to learn.

Thank you in advance!

I gleaned the same info from several sources and suspension shops. 2” level will not cause additional wear and tear, and is within the geometry specs of stock suspension. 2.5” is at the high end, and could cause issues.

because I tow and a slight rake is ok, plus I feel better going with a conservative level, 2” it was. I initially ordered 2.5” and returned it. Based on the unnoticeable very slight rake with the 2” pucks, I’m glad I didn’t go 2.5”.

For the OP and keeping in mind I am stock OEM except for the 2" RC level, OEM wheels, OEM tires, OEM shocks, etc. All I wanted was a nice leveling measured with half a tank of fuel in a 36 gallon tank. I don't tow or go off-road.
