15' Ecoboost (2.7L) Exhaust Thread
#31
As an EcoBoost owner I have to agree. I've looked around & listened to just about every setup available & they all sound like crap.....I came from having nothing but V8's with exhaust on them so maybe I'm just biased that way. But I love my 2.7 Eco, it makes plenty of power (quietly) & gets great MPG. I would say the best combo I've heard so far was a guy that kept his resonator, & added the 3" MBRP system. I think the resonator really takes all that V6 raspy crap sound out of the exhaust note & lets the muffler work it's magic on the exhaust tone.

I put the Corsa cat-back on over the weekend. Sounds great from the outside, unfortunately, the extremely well-insulated cabin mutes most of the growl/turbo whistle for the driver. Still an improvement over the dead silent stock exhaust.
I took some videos, so I'll try and get those uploaded to YouTube tonight or tomorrow.

If someone could invent a muffler that would make a V6 sound like a V8, that person would be so rich. I would buy a system like that in a heartbeat, because even though I like my exhaust, I would love the sound of a deep V8.
Because this sounds soooo good.

Heres another Flowmasters exhaust, this one is 10 series though. Mine was 40 series.

Here's my 2.7 Ecoboost with a Flowmaster American Thunder cat back system. LINK It sounds good until I get above 2k, then it starts to get raspy. The 1st rev is at about 1.5k rpm and the second is just over 3k rpm.
By the way, that pop after I turn the corner is someone's car door or something, and not my truck haha.

How does this sound?
Even at higher rpm it doesn't choke out like other ecoboost exhaust

Mine with a mbrp dual xp side exit. Sounds great at idle and at lower rpm. It did delete the resonator, but it's really only raspy in higher rpm closers to 4 grand. Other than that it's pretty good. The last Rev on this is at 3500 and that was the highest I went in this video.

Save the Manuals!
The videos of the Flowmaster 40 series sound very similar to my 02 Ranger with a 3.0 V6. It had a Flowmaster 40 series single in dual out and it sounded awesome at idle and in the lower RPM range but it really droned on the highway.
