12v Socket in Sync Cubby always powered
Hey, So I saw lots of posts about people asking what 12v sockets are always hot, and always saw that there weren't any.
Well, I got a dashcam yesterday and stuck it on my windshield, ran the wire down the pillar and temporarily plugged it into the 12v socket that's under the sliding door where the USB ports are. I'll change this once I hook up my Power Magic Pro unit.
Came home and locked up the truck yesterday at 4PM. Came out this morning at 7AM, and before even unlocking the doors, I looked inside and sure enough, the LED's on the camera were still on and it was still recording in park mode. The dashcam doesn't have its own battery, so it was indeed still getting power from the 12v socket all night.
Just thought I'd post it so people know the next time someone asks

I have a dashcam too plugged into the same socket - I thought it was always hot but then noticed that it went off after 15-20 minutes, but sometimes it takes an hour. Not sure why it's not consistent.
One question - when you looked at the cam the next morning, did you open the door? Maybe that energizes the 12v?

It was likely changed by the dealership. I had them set mine to always on. Took 2mins and was free as they learned that it could be done. Service Department doesn't know everything all the time.
I did already,,, For you l'll go find the thread where l posted it.

Yesterday I hooked up my Power Magic Pro module directly to the fusebox so that it shuts the camera off at whatever time or low voltage threshold I set it to. The 12v plug was temporary till I hooked up the PMP...
No I didn't, I made sure to not unlock it or touch the truck until I looked in the window because I wanted to see if it stayed on all night. And it did.
Why would the dealership do this if I didn't ask? Or is this something Ford has decided to do when you bring your truck in because of complaints? Either way, this is good to know and will come in handy when I'm camping.
