Default New paint, and PPF

Yes, I know I should let new paint off gas for about 30 days, but what would happen if I only waited 14 days? This is on my '04 Ranger I'm having work done on, and would like to apply PPF to the rockers ASAP afterwards, and not run mudflaps anymore.

Depends on the product. Our ppf guy does it next day. And we've never had a problem. But we use quality PPG clear

Thanks Mike. I think PPG is what was just put on my 150. What's the difference between PPG, and say Expel? I'm thinking of doing this myself since there's really no complicated curves or anything.

PPG is the paint manufacturer. I don't know the difference between ppf films. I have 3m on my truck

LOL, after I wrote and posted that, it dawned on me you meant paint brand, not PPF.

I know many ppf now are breathable. And while you should wait as long as you can. The trapping solvents thing isn't as much of a problem.

Painted a mini Cooper hood just 3 weeks ago. Full ppf. Stem to stern. Dude applied it 3 days after I painted and buffed it. Had it laid. Didn't like it. Pulled it off and redid it. Didn't damage the clear. But like I said. We use modern clear with higher resins. Less solvents.

I'll find out what brand paint the shop uses, and post it. You got me thinking about the ppf, I know the stuff the other shop put on the 150 was breathable, but I thought that was just for installation ease. The breathable stuff still allows the paint to off gas?
You know I'm not a paint guy by any means, I just do what I'm told when it comes to paint work.

Honestly. I don't know much either. Just going off what my ppf guy said 😂

It may not adhere properly and you may end up with more air bubbles or not be able to clear them all out....I think it's similar to laying vinyl wallpaper over a freshly painted wall.
