Default Engine Swap Help Please

Im New To This Forum. I Just Recently Got A 1996 F-150 With A 4.9 V-6 In It And Im Wanting To Drop A 351w In It Im Being Told Ill Have To Change The Motor Mount Towers. Is This True And What Else Will Need To Be Changed To Complete This Swap?

you'll need to go to a junkyard and get the v8 towers, the tranny will still work as it's the same bolt pattern. Exhaust of course, and I think the way the hoses for the rad route are different also, Other than that, it's pretty easy.

towers bolt in.... but the problem I had was that the factory towers are rivited in... least it was on the bronco I did the 300-6 to 351w swap I did The reason you have to change is the way the motor mounts, and the location cause of the longer 300-6 makes the mounts sit too far forward I think.. been a long time ago... but if you can search and find some on EBay or something you'll be faster at your project.

If you're keeping the fuel injection you will have to swap the engine harness and computer.

thanks for all the info every one. i think im going to be going carb. i think im going to put a 650 eldebrock 4bbl on it and im debating on wether im going to put flowmasters on it or just straight pipes. i like my trucks loud lol

maybe yall can help me with another problem i have with this truck. the heater doesnt work. ive put a new heater core and thermostat in it and it still wont blow hot air. it just blows cool air through it. i just cant figure it out ive racked my brains tryin to figure out what to do next to fix it. thanks yall

sounds like a bad blend door actuator maybe or possibly the vac hose to the hvac panel has a hole in it or came off somewhere
