Unhappy Knock

EDIT: Probably a smog pump for California emissions and why I don't hear it, I'm not in Cali.
.
Yes, this is a indeed a different country.I'm lucky to live only 35 miles from Reno,NV. All cars/trucks out here are 50 state cars. And all I've seen have Cal. emissions.Even cars/trucks sold in Nevada.Do you have 49 state back there? I thought Ford only made 50 State cars? Anyway, no air pump. Left belt drives Alternator, water pump. Right belt drives A/C.Maybe I will pull the belts and check the driven accessories myself,as Papa Tiger has suggested. 2 yrs. ago there was a TSB 11-7-1 for a similar knock, due to a/c mounting. But does not apply as Rt belt tensioner and mounting has been changed on newer models. I expect a TSB on this if you can keep an eye out for me? Disappointed that Ford engineer stopped the tech. when knock was verified in other trucks on the lot. It doesn't sound right for a new motor. Some people might not hear if listening to radio or have a/c fan on. Thank-You for your help

Well, This is what I am worried about!!! Towed my little 3,000 lbs trailer last week and noticed knock was considerably worse! I have 3,200 miles on motor now. This knock cannot be "NORMAL". I can either wait until 17,000 miles or trade it in on something else.
Did you notice a knock for very long? Did you wait until it got really bad? or did it happen fast? Quiet now/ You must feel great!

Default knock

I received my oil analysis kit from Blackstone laboratory. I will have 5k on engine soon and will send them a sample. Will see if bearing material is "NORMAL". If it is, then knock must be external i.e.. water pump or torque converter.

What u hear is spark knock from the lean condition of these engines. Try using premium fuel and it will go away

Default red knocker!

I would be very surprised if this was a spark knock or ping! Knock, knock noise in time with engine rpm.Best heard just off idle under load, like driving up a hill or grade. I now believe it is worse with when engine is at operating temp.
I need to get gas today! 90 miles to empty. So I will fill with high test and see.I live at 5,000ft. What is neat about this truck- it gets about the same MPG as the Ranger I traded. But I only have to go to the gas station 1/2 as often with the 36 gallon tank.
Almost have 5,000 miles and will take to dealer for the works and Blackstone oil test! like Papa said, if it's crank or rod, it will show up in the sample. From the sound of it metal concentration should be way out of spec's.
I got a BacFlip. Not as convenient as my old RollnLock, but a-lot cheaper.

BacFlip G2

The old Ranger never knocked!

Question Blackstone

Oil analysis @ 5k shows no signs of engine wear. So I guess this bottom end, deep engine knock, at low rpm"s is external and normal for this engine.Thats what I was told by Ford Tech-line. I will test oil again @ 10k also.
