the rear ABS usually doesnt work at all...

Alot of the trucks I have worked on including my own do not work.

the line that goes nowhere under the ABS is a broken brake line...that was by-passed

the coffee can is a vacuum reservoir for your heater controls...

Thanks for the input everyone. I'm sure there will be several more rounds of this game as we slowly repair and replace the titanic-rust machine.

Trust me. The light would come on. If the RABS don't work & there is no light, it's because the prev. owner got tired of looking at the light on & removed it.

As dr b say's, RABS are a notorious "FAIL" for these beast's. The first thing I fixed on my truck when I got it.

Was it worth the time & expense? Personally it was, as I have to have everything functional. That's just me. But these RABS systems don't really "set the world on fire" when they are working perfectly.

If you do it your way, watch for Popo. , I believe that could be construed as Reckless Driving. Certainly probable cause for stop. Although I have 3k officers in my town. Maybe you only have to watch for "Andy" & Barney".

Id rather have ABS on the front as without it winter driving is USELESS without weight...

front tires lock and you slide long time...I put a 1000lbs of weight in mine and most of the braking is on the rear in slick conditions...

Yeah - the truck was a Detroit Michigan truck until it moved down south where we picked it up from the original owner.

My son wanted a project, and a running, solid vehicle for 1,000 bucks can't be beat.

Okay, maybe semi-solid.

Okay ... a RUNNING vehicle for 1,000 bucks that starts right up every time can't be beat :p

Round two!!!

This is below the carbon filter, next to the radiator. I'm pretty sure that hose isn't supposed to be all chewed up like a squirrel or rat got to it. Truck runs - I'm guessing it's an emissions thing, but I have no idea.

No smog testing here. It's old enough and the county we live in is heavy agriculture and don't do any emissions testing anyway.
