Default Wiring Harness

is there any difference between the wiring harness for a 5.0L MAF and a 5.8L MAF? if i were going to drop a 5.8L into the engine bay of a truck that had a 5.0L, would there be anything i would have to change?

It depends on the year of the truck.

I wasn't paying close enough attention. There is no 5.8 MAF. If you want a 5.8 MAF you have to use the harness from a 5.0 MAF.

Sorry yes, '96 5.8 is MAF but it is also OBDII. I prefer OBDI.

Might run into problem w/ transmission too, if your's is AOD & the donor is set up for EAOD.

whats the difference between OBDII and OBDI? and my current transmission and transfer case leak horribly, so the donor vehicle will give up theirs, if i ever find one.

Obd1 is pre '96. The computers are different and the obd2 has more sensors and codes. Obd2 can be read in real time obd1 can't. Obd1 was the predecessor to obd2 and just a stepping stone.

I'll give you "pre 96' but...

OBD1, in addition to "Continuous Memory" history, gives info realtime for Key on/ engine off, as well as realtime for key on/ engine running.

It has Keep-Alive Memory or KAM; this is the complex mid term memory; this memory lasts for as long as EEC is receiving 12 volts. The KAM is where the trouble codes are stored, and where the sensor baselines are memorized.

It also has Random Access Memory or RAM is the short-term memory; this is where data is stored during a trip. Once the key is turn off the RAM is deleted.
