Default windshield wiper stops.. HELP

So my Windshield wipers will work fine then just stop randomly. Does this sound like a motor issue? Or some sort of switch/relay? Thanks for any help, Just dont want to buy the wrong parts.

I've heard I've the wiper control module getting old. What year is your truck? I have this same issue on my 92. Pulled the wiper controller out and opened it, all looks well but I never replaced it. Its behind the glove box, if you turn the wipers on and feel around behind the glovebox for the ticking, you'll find it real easy. Not sure how much they cost or anything, never looked into it

Mine was the multifunction switch, got one on ebay for 45 brand new. If your hazard button is red you have the factory switch in there, they are now black I believe:

My intermittent and lower wiper speeds would just stop, I had to continuously toggle the wiper speed down to zero and then back up to the desired speed.

Is there any way we can clean it, just like the window switch contacts? I have this issue, but I can't justify spending money on it because it hasn't rained much recently. Maybe it will...

How difficult is it to get to that multiswitch?

I'm pretty sure they can be cleaned, the real problem lies in the actual **** that you toggle for wiper speed. I've read about people disassembling that part and putting a little vasoline (?) in there. See the link I posted above on how to access the switch. It is not hard to get to and does not require removing your steering wheel, took me 10 minutes maybe to get mine out when I did it last year. There's a thread in "How To's" I believe on the Ford truck enthusiasts forum concerning how to clean the contacts.

'87-'91 are different than '92-'96. Follow the switch wires down, there is a little black box. This is the wiper control module. Open it up and resolder the cracked connections.
