The same place if you didn't want to replace it! It's usually located under the instrument panel, behind either the left or right side kick panels. According to my manual, they are occasionally placed under the passengers seat (no explanation as to when or why) Maybe something they did at the factory every 1st of April.

Yes, drivers side kick panel. Unplugged from underhood and removed from the cab.

What is a kick panel? Is that by my left or right foot if I am sitting in the drivers seat?

From the driver side, you could kick the left kick panel w/your left or right foot. As for the right kick plate from the drivers side, you can kick it w/ your right foot pretty easily, but you'd have to be fairly flexible to kick it w/your left foot! Although when I used to go to the Drive-in Movies w/ my girlfriend, she use to smack her head on it occasionally. Drive-ins? Ya, I'm that old. Anyway, if it makes a hallow sound when she bumps her head on it (the kick panel, if her head make a hallow sound, that's normal) it's on the other side. If she manages to bump her head on one mounted under the front passenger seat,................. "I'm impressed & she's a keeper!"

Bet ya didn't see that coming! "Just trying to keep it REAL." Sometimes I can't help myself. That was a pretty good example!
