I noticed I piece after my top radiator hose blew off and I am not sure what this is, it's located behind the battery and is blowing out air. It looks like a hose is suppose to be there, but I do not know where is would go.

The end with the hose is connected to the air pump.

Its the intake for the air injection, I.e. air pump, the housing keeps crap from getting sucked in. Only problem is it should be sucking instead of blowing, so your hoses are reveresed on the pump.

Actually that's the exhaust for the air pump. After warm up the pump does nothing for the engine. It's designed to pump warm compressed air to the cat at start up. After warm-up the valve switches and blows useless air into the engine bay. The little metal thing acts as a muffler to keep the pump quiet and keep debris out of the line. So actually your system is doing what it is supposed to do. Thank it for its service and leave it alone.

Its the exhaust that goes to the cat, It has a one way diaphragm inside of it to prevent exhaust gases from going back up into the pump. Looks like someone disconnected it and tied it up. The intake is the other hose going into a can looking abject with a large hose coming out the side of it, you can see it in the pic.

Mine was disconnected on my truck. I went to Autozone and got two molded heater hoses and a metal pipe elbow fitting from a hardware store to connect the two hoses. It made a huge difference in the idle quality on my truck.
