Default What diff fluid?

So I'm going to be changing my differential cover and I was wondering what kind of differential fluid to put back in? What's the best brand and what weight of oil? Thanks

A few questions: 2WD or 4WD? How do you use your truck? Constant towing? Street driven? Occasional towing? Any heavy hauling? Those factor into what weight to use.

Is it limited slip? If its limited slip you also need to add a friction modifier

The front diff fluid is different than the back I believe. If that make a diff to you.

I'm an Amsoil Severe Gear 75w-90 kinda guy. Royal Purple is good too. 75w-90 should be sufficient if towing is just occasional. If it's more than occasional, go with 75w-140.

So would there be any harm in running 75w-140 even if I don't tow a lot?

No it wouldn't do any harm. Maybe a minor decrease in gas mileage, but no it wouldn't hurt anything at all.
