I have a 1988 f150 5.0, what is this plug with the yellow wires in the picture?

That's the SPOUT plug. You pull that plug out when you are checking or adjusting your base timing.

You unplug it to stop the ecm from controlling the timing.

Timing has to be set with that unplugged. Assuming you know how to using a timing gun just set timing at 10ºBTDC and then plug the spout back in.

hold Alt down and put in 248 it puts in the ° symbol
