i changed my water pump 2 months ago.2 things held be back from getting it done.I put the new water pump gasket on wrong (very easy fix) and it took me 5 long hours to get the fan off the nut/spindle! easiest way,and i mean easy,is first put that 1-1/8" wrench on the fan nut and wrench belt (or special tool for those 4 bolts connected to the pump) on the pulley.fan wrench gets pulled one direction and belt wrench gets pulled other.it says on the fan nut which direction for tightening.
After 5 hours of trying to get that fan nut off,i found a great way taking it off in a matter of a few seconds.i found a 2' long hollow round bar and placed it on the fan wrench.took another 2' long bigger hollow round bar and placed the end on the other bars end (giving me length and torque).
push down on the end of the bar while pulling the belt wrench opposite direction.easy to do.
