Default Water pump

Alrighty then, so a few days ago, went out to the truck (hadnt driven it in about 4 days), and there was a large pool of coolant under it. &%$!. So crawled under to try to figure it out. Its seeping from the water pump. So, my question for you guys is, how long do i have before it stops working entirely? I wont have the time to replace it until after thanksgiving. think it'll last until then? its my daily driver so i kinda need it. Also, any tips on the job? I've heard it can be a pain... Thanks for the help guys

There is no time limit on dead parts. It's dead.

If its leaking fluid then the leak is the problem. We don't know the condition of the part. It may be fine. However if you try to run without coolant you will end up with more than a water pump repair. If its your driver I'd find the time. Stay up late or take a sick day. Or find a ride till you can fix it. If you insist on driving, check the fluid all the time and watch the temp gauge. Don't drive far. If you run out of coolant the temp gauge may not read hot. It measures coolant temp not engine. If there's none to measure it can't read hot.

I had just heard that when It leaks from the weep hole it's a warning that it'll go bad soon, so I know It needs doing. It's not loosing coolant very quickly at all, but I've been keeping an eye on it...

Leaking from the weep hole doesn't mean it's going bad, it means it is bad. How much worse do you want to wait for?

Ehhhh. The guy wants to roll the dice with his engine cooling system.... It ain't gonna get any better that's for sure. Might get lucky and milk it through... Then again maybe not... I wouldn't drive it anywhere far away. But if you could avoid driving it at all that would be best or at least limit it to as needed runs...

Mine developed a coolant drip on the way back from the deer hunt... I parked it until I get a chance to find out wtf... But there are 2 other vehicles besides this one.

And I don't want to roll the dice, that's why I'm asking questions, so I can learn and do the correct thing. That's the point of me being here.
