Default Vinyl replacement for carpet

I'm new to this forum. Just purchased a '95 XLT 4x4 that I'm planning on putting some money into (no a full restoration, but probably close). I need to replace the carpet and I'm considering vinyl, just because I anticipate it being easier to keep clean and less likely to trap odor. Is there a downside that I'm not considering (other than it is an XLT and wouldn't have vinyl from the factory)?

Also, is there a vendor/product you would recommend? Seems like there are a number of choices out there.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Suspect the cab will be a tad noisier - certainly not deafening, but noticeable.

Not sure about color availabilities with vinyl - most listings I've seen do show about every color one could want, as long as one wants only black. :-)~

IIRC, the costs are not that much different between a good vinyl flooring and carpet. Suggest that no matter how well you do with the rest of the truck, it will always seem like you pulled up short on the flooring job with vinyl.

Got to thinking - good grief - what kind of spillage types and volumes do you experience where trapping odor is even a concern? I have friends with vinyl that boast about being able to hose the cab out - but come on - how often does that really happen?

Not much experience with vendors - lmctruck.com would be worth a look, I've had good success with JCWhitney with my Jeep floorings. Either way, be sure to understand the shipping charges, which can end up being a substantial portion of the total purchase price.

It's rubber, not vinyl. Vinyl on the seats but rubber on the floor. The only drawback I see is that rubber is more likely to trap moisture underneath and could rust out the floor. If you treat the floor with Por-15 or something similiar then that won't be a problem. LMC Truck is one place to find all your interior needs.

Why not take the truck to Rhino Liner or Linex and get it sprayed? Or just use a DIY roll-in liner on it.

Thanks for the responses.

wde3477 thank you for the LMC Truck suggestion. I decided to go with the carpet. Order it just a few minutes ago, along with some other stuff I needed.

I appreciate the help.
