it seems your 1990 f150... notice the 90, is a 351 indeed from factory
Check your veci label on the radiator support or the hood(forget which spot it’s on)
it looks a lot like this, except instead of 5.0 it would say 5.8 and 1990 not 1989.
your truck has a title, yes? What does the title say? A date on the door jamb may be 1989 but most cars are made in the previous actual year rhat model year. My truck is April 1996 which is unusual to me as it’s 96 but it happens to most of my vehicles to be the previous year. My 99 Buick was made September 1998

Hey Aurora Girl...Thank you for your willingness to help. Actually I had looked at the veci label on radiator shroud and it does say 5.8 as well as it stamped on the intake 351 EFI,,,but which of the ford 351'a is it?? I hoping it is a 351W,,,!! AND,,it also has 6 bolts on valve covers,,?
While I got you,,I want to install this good running 351 engine in my Son's boat, which DID have a 351W but PO left water in block which FROZE but the biggest problem is a 3" long crack in the block from #4 cylinder to #5 cylinder,,as well as another crack from #6 cylinder to #7 cylinder,!!! Anti- Freeze anyone????
My other question is: Can we remove the EFI intake and distributor from the trk engine and install in the boat that had a 4 barrel Holley carburator manifold??? Will a camshaft change out be necessary? Many THANKS for any help. Joe r

to my understanding it’s a 351w but I’m not a small block Ford expert. I know a clevland Modified amd Windsor were all 351 potentials.
as for the boat, I do believe marine engines have differences in components that could be changed s yes to be used but it may be cheaper to find one already designed for marine use. I’m not sure if it has to do with the platform to mount or if it’s water proofing but it’s not quite as simple as drop in from a truck with a new intake from my understanding. A boat forum may be more help as I’m deathly afraid of water
Hey Aurora Girl,,,,from Mars,,,,,huh,,,? OK,,,I'm good with that,,,,(clapping hands)
ISHey Steve83,,I could not get the link to open,,,, My Son tells me that Autozone gave him info that the vin I posted does verify it "IS" a 351W,,,! HMmmmm,,,Autozone,,,,????
Another thing is that 90 trk engine does not have the boss for the manual fuel pump like the boat 351 does ,,,but NO BIGGIE as a low pressure 12 volt pump will solve that issue pretty quick,,,,
I looked up the VIN on my (new to me)1988 F150 using this. The build date says "08/01". Seems a bit odd. That would be August, 2001, correct? Surely it wasn't build in a day, on August 1st. Any idea on why it would say "08/01"? Is it possible somebody swapped the cabs? Would the cab from a 2001 fit a 1988?
I checked the title. It is not a salvage title. The VIN matches the truck and lists it as an 1988. I looked up the VIN on Ford Truck Enthusiasts and it also came back a 1988.
I tried to upload a photo, but it got to 50% and errored out. Any help available with that?
