I just said you sounded kinda rude, then you jumped on my ****. I don't know a nicer way to tell someone they sound rude, so work on your response to constructive criticism. Try letting people talk before you tell them to shut up. You want help, you have to deal with the *** holes as well as the good samaritans.

What do you mean "only used for fuel mapping"? Fuel mapping is pretty damn important. Despite people thinking the clutch switch is useless is does give a signal to the computer to help control idle. Just because you may think a sensor isn't important doesn't mean it isn't. My '87 has a VSS, despite having a non computer controlled transmission and mechanical speedometer. Sure it's used for the ABS but it still gives the computer a signal. Take away information and the computer is left to guess, not optimal for performance.

Obviously you did not read my post and it is your type I do not want to deal with. I have enough of your type during the day without coming here for more. Just so you might get the idea, I posted fuel mapping during "deceleration". There are too many of you that kneejerkers who jump in before reading and understanding a post. Read the whole message before spouting off *******.

F*ck you you f*cking f*ck. Hey, I sound just like you.

Yea deceleration isn't important, the truck only does it EVERY TIME you drive it. Yea, the factory always wastes money by designing and installing useless sensors. My fault for trying to have an intelligent conversation with a moron. If you don't want to deal with me don't come back, or don't ask stupid questions.

Can anyone here tell me what role the VSS plays in the function of engine control? I am aware of the auxiliary roles such as speedometer, cruise control and ALB. I am not concerned with them. I am only concerned with what role it plays in actual engine operation such as fuel control or timing. I am also aware of the PSOM so there is no need to post about it.

Please, no guesses or hope this helps. I need accurate info from someone who knows.

dont wory about the VSS if your running a manual trans, I've been without one for 3 years now, truck runs and drives fine, about the only thing you will get is the check engine light, MAYBE, mine has not came on. i'm running a 95, with a granny low 4speed and 4x4.

Just because it works doesn't mean it's right. I can run on 5 cylinders (which I have) but power and mileage will suffer.

Lol.. pretty funny thread ... sorry I missed all the fireworks. I saw the op when it was first up and elected to go on past. Part of the enjoyment of forums like these at least for me is the spectacle of the range of different answers including on point and off the wall. Most all of them have a place and add to the diversity of the place. The op has to have the whereabouts to weed through them as well. To the op, the world is not perfect, the sooner you accept it, the better it will be for your cardiac system.

well i'm getting about 12-14mpg in gas, not bad running 35/14.50 tires with a 4.9l and NP435, and as for power if i can get my 1/4" thick tranfercase skid plate hung up on a stump and rip it off by snapping the 4, 1/2" grade 8 bolts, I'd say i've got plenty of power.

Imagine how much better it would be if it was right.
