Exclamation U-Joints

I recently developed a terrible squeaking noise around my transfer case output shaft and at my front u joint on my driveshaft, whats weird about it is that the u joint has no play or signs of abnormal wear it just squeaks all the time unless the driveshafts not moving obviously. Also the transfer case wasnt low on fluid so i dont believe its a bearing issue, i was wondering if anybodys had this problem with thier u joints before , any and all feedback is greatly appreciated thanks.

Perhaps try shooting some grease in to see if that changes anything.

Also, are the u-joint caps seated firmly in the yokes?

Sometimes worn u-joints get wedged crooked very tight. Use a pry bar to check them for play, not just your hand. My u-joints were worn so badly they machined a notch in the yoke, but I couldn't tell by twisting the driveshaft by hand because they were wedged tight.

i replaced the u joint closest to the transfer case and now it only makes the noise when i am driving forward and not in reverse so now i have no idea, i can replace the other u joint for starters and go from there at least thats a cheap fix, hopefully its not something internally , it drives excellent and shifts great through all gears in the transmission and transfer case.. any help is greatly appreciated thanks again.

If one u-joint was bad the others aren't far behind. I replaced them one at a time as they failed, which they failed close to each other.

Sometimes u joints will start to squeak before they loosen up, also block the rear tires and shift to neutral before checking because what the driveline usually binds enough to keep warn ujoints from wobbling. The squeaking is caused by the roller either freezing up, or the yolk being imprinted with the rollers because of shock loads.

Default 08 has the same thing!

I have the same noise. I replaced the front U-joint and it didn't get rid of the noise. It seems to be in the transfer case. Maybe the oil pump in the transfer case? It's on the output shaft.

Is the noise coming from the carrier bearing on the rear diveline.
