Turning causing stalling
Hi,
I have noticed when pulling out of a tight parking spot, when I turn the wheel fully I can hear the power steering whine a bit and at time it will stall the engine...
Alternator? Power steering pump?
I'm ot a mechanic by any means.

I'm guessing your at a stop turning the wheel then it stalls? Yeah it will do that, I've done it a couple times, just got to give it some gas. Pump takes allot of power when turning at idle or low rpm.
It's a Canadian thing eh!

These pumps will always wine and rob power like that. They don't like to be turned when not rolling or going slow. Since you just bought the truck might be time to change out some old fluids, like the power steering.

Pull codes if possible, could be your power steering pressure switch or its connector is bad, this switch is telling the ECU to raise rpm a little bit in case your standing/rolling slow and turning the wheel! Nevertheless the other hints and tips are correct, too, old fluid or worn out pumps suck...
You`ll find the switch ( in case you have one, my `91 at least has it ) directly on the fluid tube from the power steering pump to the steering gear box!

I've never had that happen. Yes they all whine and draw power but stalling is Not supposed to happen for sure. Power steering pump is probably near seizing up. It's robbing so much power that it can actually stall the engine.

hard on the pump... hard on all the PS parts... you'll either end up blowing the pump, hose or gearbox...
if you half to crank the wheel that hard to get into or out of a parking spot just park farther away where it's not so tight...
if i crank my truck tight the high idle kicks in...
