There are two or three parts you need to check. The EGR itself, some vacuum thing that goes to it, and the position sensor (think that's what it called). Don't know how to do any of it, haven't even been able to go after mine yet. Don't just start throwing parts at it, a new EGR from autozone costs about $90. You might be able to save yourself some money if its something simple.

Some EGR's are a real b*tch to get off.

But, like I said, blocking or ditching doesn't seem to do too much, and you'll get trouble codes. The trouble codes were the only reason I unblocked mine, got tired of seeing them.

Oh, and it's the TPS, throttle position sensor. You were close.

how do i check to see what the problem is? where is the EGR located? maybe previous owner blocked it and i just need to unblock it.

go on Google and look up a picture of the egr, it should be on the side of the throttle body or extremely close to it, on the passenger side. looks like a pipe pointing straight up with a disk looking thing at the top. sorry i dont have a picture of it on my computer.
