Default Transmission Issue?

So, first off thanks to all who answered my last thread about starting problems. I got it resolved, it was a bad ground.

Now, I drove it on the road to check the breaks, oil pressure, put fresh gas in it (have to mash the gas down to get it started, thinking bad gas).

Anyway, back to my problem. It shifts from first to second, but will not go into third or OD. I have checked the OD button on the column and it's on as it should be. Any ideas where to start trouble shooting?

FYI, 1994 F150, V8 5.0L with 92K miles.

Sounds like a shift solenoid. That's worst case. Have you tried to get it to jump from 2nd to 4th? Might not do it. I've seen em really only jump first to third. Checked fluids, connections and the lot?

The pressure modulator vacuum hose may have worked loose. This was a fairly common problem with the C4 & C6 AT. (the e40 OD AT is an updated version)
The modulator has a round body with a short metal tube sticking out the front. It is located on the passenger side (front) just above the tranny pan. In the event this modulator is leaking a little AT fluid, replace it. If the vacuum hose is split or old, replace the hose.

It doesn't have that.

Check your fluid level, is it full, is the fluid dirty, smell burnt? Maybe a simple filter/fluid swap out will get it working again. Also you could try a tranny fluid conditioner to help free up a sticking valve. Try manually shifting the transmission and see how it reacts.

I just call it as I see it. stmartin indicated he has an engine transmission combo like mine.
The object to focus upon is proper adjustment of the shift lever position to align with the correct transmission detent lever position. The pages I cited spells out this procedure.
