Mine runs just above the line before the N with the thermostat, sounds like the same as his. But I'm running the $20 195. And I do know my gauge works.

Mine runs right around the N if I've got straight water in it. I was broke and couldn't afford antifreeze when I put in a new water pump.

Mine used to run around the N until I overheated it one time a while ago. You know what? Even though the gauge does peg when it's hot I'm going to change the sensor and see if it affects the gauge. When I first got the truck it ran straight in the middle, between R and M. I think I must have been running with a cracked head, because the first head change put the gauge down to the N.

I'm surprised mine didn't overheat yet had a water leak and was low by a gallon and a half or so and had been driving 40 miles proir at 65 never went above the N might be wise for me to change out my sending unit and see if it affects things

A gallon and a half isn't much. I also know how low the oil can get before it affects that gauge.

It doesn't affect the gauge until about 3 and a half quarts, and that's going around corners.
