No, but the best place for those wires to short together is at that box where they are close to each other.

would that be the plug that goes into the firewall, or at the fuse box itself under the hood?

if i unplug the headlight bulbs, it wont start with the headlight switch in any position, and the fuel pump runs continuously with the headlight switch off. soon as i plug both of the headlights back in, it returns to its normal symptoms...

Sean, I checked out the wiring near and in the fuse box under the hood. No signs of melted or fused wires anywhere. I also tried to do a continuity check between the wires for the headlamp maxi fuse and the wires for the fuel pump relay. Im not sure if that is the right way to test it or not to see if there is a cross connection or fused wires, but it showed it was open.

I ran into another issue this evening, My dome light wouldnt go off until i disconnected the headlamp switch. The headlamp switch has been replaced before, by the previous owner, with one he obtained from a junkyard. I check the wiring and all the connections were in the right spots, and no signs of burned/melted/fused wires, and doesnt appear to be any homemade splices anywhere along the path. Ill continue tracing out the cables tomorrow.

...im kinda lost lol.

Electrical problems are a pain. Checking continuity from the headlight fuse doesn't help, that always has power. Check for continuity from the headlight plug positive and the fuel pump relay wires.

Another search method that may help is check for electricity at the pumps, then turn on and off switches and pull fuses and connections to see what combination gives you power and what doesn't. I hope that's clear. Take notes as you go. Short to ground can sometimes activate relays as well so check your hot and ground wires. A word of caution, don't forget your checking for a fuel and electricity problem. Watch for fire risks. Sparks and fumes are bad.

So, i have tested continuity between the drivers side headlamp plug and to the fuel pump relay plug. the results are on the attached photos. The arrows point from the wire in the headlamp plug to the slot in the relay box where there was continuity.

With the headlamp switch in the off position, the results were the same as the second photo.
