Default Steering Wheel slack...

Couple questions...new to a '91 XLT Lariat 4x4 I picked up a few weeks ago. The tilt column will stay in the top couple positions but once driving it falls to one of the lower positions, is there a fix or do I need to purchase a new column?

Also there is a lot of slack in the steering, is that normal or is the shaft possibly worn out? Anyone got any input?

Any help is appreicated!

I have the exact same problem as you. It's irritating to me to have as much slack in the steering as I do.

I'm in the same boat so I just wiggle my steering wheel around to stay in a straight line. Doesn't bother me much

There's a part you can change to fix the tilt. I don't know what it's called and it is supposed to be a bitch to change.

Balljoints are new on the truck. I believe the joints in the actual shaft might be pretty worn. Might purchase that borg-warner upgraded shaft to see if that helps. Truck needs to be regears first so it will have to be put on the 'waiting' list. Thanks for the help.

Does anyone know a good aftermarket site to order from that might have clear headlights and other replacement items.

If you haven't already, it's almost mandatory to check out Summit Racing. They usually have what I need.
