Default Steering lock removal

Hello all!

I just picked up a replacement steering column. If I knew what I was doing I might try to repair the one I have, however this one seems in a lot better shape. The alternative might have been to take to shop.

Can anyone tell me how to remove the steering/ ignition lock?

Thanks

Just the key cylinder?

Put the key in and turn it to the on position - there is a little tiny hole o the underside of the column near the cylinder - put a thin screwdriver up that hole and depress the little button/clip that holds in the cylinder. Entire thing should slide out with the hey in it.

This is a 2002 but its the same principle:

What if you don't have a key? This steering column I just got came from a salvage and of course there is not any key.

Take the column to a locksmith and have them make a key. You can't remove it without the key without damaging the column.
