Default Steering column removal

I have a 1995 xlt 5.0 automatic and I'm having trouble finding a video or write up on how to remove the whole column and swap it out.
The reason im doing this is im having trouble with the ignition switch not returning/ unable to turn engine off. I was told it is easier to just swap the whole column.

The u joint and electrical connectors are off. I frayed the shift cable trying to figure out how to get it off but I'm pretty sure that's all that's connected now.

The shift cable slips into its metal bracket on the column, and is retained in the slot by a single sharp clip. With the column lowered, use a pocket screwdriver to pry the clip inboard, then shove the cable housing up out of the bracket.

The shifter cable doesn't go into the dash - it goes through the floor beside the gas pedal to the transmission. Read this caption:

...or are you talking about the shift INDICATOR cable?

It's part of the shift indicator, which is difficult to source for replacement.

That's nothing - just the plastic sheathing coming off the steel cable. Peel or burn/melt it off so it doesn't snag anything, and install it.

I am replacing a steering column on my 95 f150 but I am new at this and was looking for a video that shows how to disconnect shift cable from selector lever pivot. Push in tab on shift cable, and slide cable off shaft cable bracket. Disconnect ignition switch electrical connector. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It just snaps off the ball. Pull, but don't break it when it pops loose.

That's CLOSE to how to pull the cable out of the column bracket, but the tab has to be PULLED; not pushed. Did you read the previous posts in this thread?

Now you're getting into the rest of the column - not just the cable. There are several connectors, but we can't guess which since you've told us so LITTLE about the truck. Click this, read the whole caption, study your truck, and put ALL its details into your signature:
