Default Resurrecting the dead.

Ok so I have a 1989 f150. It has the 5.0, AOD trans, duel tanks. I bought it as a parts truck for my other truck which is a 1990 F250 but decided instead to see if I can get it back and running since it is in good shape over all.

When I bought it I was told it had sat for a few months and all it needed was a starter solenoid since the one it it was gone amd wires had been clipped. I put new ends on the wires installed a new solenoid amd turned it over. It turns but no start. So I started my troubleshooting. It had a new distributor assembly installed so I checked firing order to make sure that was ok, checked spark quickly. It has spark so I went on. Found no fuel in the rail when I presssed the Schrader valve. None of the 3pumps dont kick on when ignition is turned. No click from the relay either. So I replaced it. Still nothing. If I take my eec plug and ground pin #6 the relay clicks. If I jump #2 to #6 pumps kick on amd I get pressure to the rail but it still wont start. Even spraying ether in it won't start up. Also did check relay ground and it seems to be fine.

So I am wondering if anyone knows why I can ground out and get the pumps to function, but why they wont work other wise and any ideas why it won't fire over even with a spray shot.

If you have fuel pressure at the rail, no matter how you get it there (jumping pins, spraying starting fluid, etc.), and it still won't start, then you either have a spark problem, or your timing is way off.

It sounds like you also might have en electrical problem - might be worth pulling the ECM and checking for corroded/leaky caps.

Right on the money with the exam attached are pictures ine showing the board jas been over heated and is turned colors the other shows a diode that has over heated and broke. Will price out a new one and possibly as used one. If its not to bad I will get one, if not I guess I will part the truck as originally planned.

The burnt rainbow of yellow across the bottom

The diode my screw driver is pointing at is burnt and cracked as well the one under my screw driver has been overheated as well.

Ok, so I got a referb ecm, plugged it in, and still nothing. Cranks but no start. Funny thing is I cant even ground out the relay or jump terminals and get the fuel pumps to kick on now. Even though I could before. So unless anyone might know of something I am ready to go with my original plan which was to gut the truck and fix my other.
