All you have to do is call up an auto parts store and ask for a starter for your vehicle with a manual and automatic, FYI.
Part numbers match=auto. starter will work
Part numbers don't match=03-0402X(Auto)/03-0388(Man)=auto. starter will not work
To my knowledge, i've never seen a vehicle where a starter was interchangeable between auto and man trans.

Bluecar, did you look that up? I'm pretty sure they're the same.

I just looked it up myself. There is no part number difference for automatic or manual, it doesn't specify a difference.

Why O'reilly list a different part number for the 300 between a man and auto tranny is beyond me. According to @LLD@T@ they ARE THE SAME, are you telling me Ford went out of the way to design both transmissions to use the same starter? I'm still in doubt, show me more proof!
