Default Starter Problem

Hey so I installed a new starter, but truck still won't start. I turn the key and get nothing, but AAA came today and the guy put a piece of metal between the two posts on the small cylinder above the starter and it started cranking and then fired right up. What can/ should I do? Anyone got any ideas as to whats going wrong?

sounds like maybe a solenoid, that thing next to the battery that the positive cable runs to with all the other wires hooked to... shouldnt be but like 20 bucks.

You mean the silly little red wire that kept you from starting your engine & made you call AAA?

AAA! Luv you guy's. I can't count how many times I "haven't" had to drop what I'm doing to go rescue friends & family on the road because of you guys. Highly recommend the "Plus" membership and the no line DMV services at their offices.

Worse senerio, they call in a flatbed, but they never leave you hanging. Best friend on the road
